HOW BIG IS YOUR CAMERA? This is a great product, but if you buy one that's too weak to hold your camera's weight, you're going to be disappointed. The GP1 will hold up to 9.7 oz- basically your average small point-and-click digital camera only- think Elph. The GP2 will hold up to 1.75 lbs -smaller/lighter SLR cameras with short lenses only. The GP3 will hold up to 6.6 lbs and has a slightly larger camera attach point, similar to larger tripods -good for SLRs and smaller camcorders. Unless you want to spend 10-15 minutes fighting the gorilla to hold your camera without sagging (and forget about portrait/sideways shots), make sure you buy one that can support the weight! Otherwise it's tough to beat the versatility, reliability, and small size/weight of this tripod. From what I've seen of other reviews, you'll be disappointed with cheaper imitations as well.

Fantastic product. We bought this while looking for one of those mini tripods that you can velcro to another object and found this to be much better. The grip is strong and most situations can be accommodated. It's a little pricey, but well made so very much worth the cost. Older, heavier cameras may tend to overwhelm it in some positions, but for the most part, it works great. If nothing else, it replicates a "traditional" tripod well, and the added bending and gripping feature really makes the difference. I no longer have to balance the camera on the hood of the car with sticks and rocks to get a good photo of us during our travels. Everywhere we go, somebody stops us to ask where to get one... it's quite a spectacle.

I ordered an extra shoe so we can transfer the gorillapod from her camera to mine. If you're in the market for a new camera, try and get one with the tripod mounting shoe somewhat centrally located on the bottom of the camera. My fiance's camera has the tripod mount on one side so the camera wants to lean to the other side. Fortunately, the gorillapod is strong enough to resist this.

The wireless device is ok when it's close to the receiver, like in the same room. When placed probably about 50 feet away with two wood framed drywall walls in between, the quality was completely poor to the point of not being able to make out anything. The camera quality itself is a decent quality if it's hardwired. but given that the wireless is useless for this price you can get a much better hardwired camera. I'd avoid getting this because there's got to be better wireless options out there.

This little thing can handle a lot of weight for being so small. It will hold a Canon EOS 5D with 24-105 f/4L IS lens and 430EX flash steadily -- in either vertical or horizontal orientation! (You have to mount the camera "sideways" on the base to do vertical shots.) This is a good 3 or 4 pounds of gear, and this much weight absolutely destroys my DSLR-sized Gorillapod. It is no problem for the little Slik, however. Due to weight distribution, this tripod probably will not work for much longer lenses, although if the lens is big enough to have a tripod mount, then it might work. I have been able to use it with my 70-200 f/4L IS both vertically and horizontally with a little care to set the legs at the right angles to provide support where it needs to be.

One other note: I have the "II" version of this tripod (the current version that Amazon sells is "V"), which I purchased used in 2002. It is still going strong! The "V" version looks just the same as mine, based on the Amazon photos.

The Slik Mini Pro Table-Top Tripod is all I expected and more. I can put it anywhere on any surface and the camera remains stable. Excellent for using the movie option my Canon LS590. This is the third Slik product I own and would never think of buying any other brand of tripod.

I purchased one of these QSD360 cameras to install as part of an outdoor surveillance system however Amazon's product description is misleading - this camera came labeled with a large sticker that states "Indoor" yet Amazon markets this item as an "outdoor" camera. Further, the item's packaging states that this camera has a 3mm-9mm lens (not 3.5-8 as Amazon lists) and the minimum illumination level is stated to be 0.5Lux (not 0.1 Lux).

It's also supposed to output 480 TVL resolution however after side-by-side testing, I've found that this camera's image quality is not as high as other Q-see cameras that are rated only at 420TVL (namely the Q-See QS2350C Weatherproof Color CCD Camera Kit With Built-in Heat Circulating Blower). The image quality isn't that bad (you can still identify faces) but there is noticeable noise in the picture that isn't in the lower-cost 420TVL outdoor units. It seems that much of the high cost of this camera is not because of the supposed 480TVL lens but rather because it is apparently "vandalproof" (something I guess time will tell).

A third comment: This camera can handle low light situations fairly well even though there are no IR LEDs. In close-to-complete darkness though, the camera could not distinguish any objects so if you're planning on using this unit as a night-time surveillance tool, you will most likely need ambient lighting or an array of IR LEDs close to the camera to make this camera useful.

As said, this is a good product but missing mounting bracket that used to mount the camera to the ceiling. The fact is that the package has screws for the bracket but Amazon Customer service asked me to contact horrible q-see phone line for missing part check. Lack of detailed product description from the manufactor and amazon. Highly recommend to buy it and create yourself the way to mount it to the wall/ceiling.

In order to promote their new video reviews (which I think are a great idea), Amazon sent me (for free! I love Amazon) a brand spankin' new Flip video camcorder. It came today and my daughter and I had some fun with it on the way home. I haven't gotten a lot of use out of the thing yet, but I have some initial thoughts:

1. It couldn't be easier to take videos. You insert the batteries and press a button and you're filming.

2. You connect it to the computer by plugging it into the USB port. Software downloads to your computer, all very smoothly. The connection to the USB port is problematic. A USB connector pops out of the side of the camera, which is very elegant but doesn't work well in practice. I had to unplug another device to fit it into the available slot next door. It's kind of like having one of those big plugs taking up so much room on a power strip. I've already ordered an extension for it.

3. The editing software is very basic. This is to be expected. This is supposed to be a quick, point-and-shoot device that takes basic video that can quickly be shared on the web. Which is a great idea. But here's the thing: you can edit a video from either end, ending it earlier or starting it later. But you can't crop out a part in the center. Is that insane? Now, you can make copies of a movie and then take the beginning part of one and the ending part of another. It's inelegant but possible, right? And there is a "movie-making" feature that allows you to mesh these two movies together...except that you can only save the product if you're in Windows. With Mac you can't save it, so it's useless for posting the amalgam on the web. As far as I can see, at least.

4. Quality seems okay for the purpose. Looks good on my computer, at least.

So in short if you're going to take very short videos that you don't intend to edit and post them on YouTube, this works well. Though I have to say, it isn't super speedy. While I've been writing this my computer has been processinga three-minute video for posting online, and it's only gotten through about 5% of it so far.

Q-See QPD308 is a decent camera for its price.
My only dissatisfaction with this product is that the LEDs emit a visible red light. When put next to a window, which was my intention, the LEDs reflect off the glass surface which makes it impossible to see anything.
When tested in the house it worked fine but that wasn't what I bought the camera for.
The quality of the picture is very good when tested on a 8" LCD display.
I bought these to go with my wifes new Sony mini-DVD camcorder .. A good bargan comparied to the local stores .. Every disk has worked so far with the only draw back of having the Sony camcorder remind me to use Sony media .. Also found a good deal on Amazon for Slim Jewel Cases for 8-cm Mini CDs too :) KHypermedia Slim Jewel Cases for 8-cm Mini CDs (Black, 25-Pack)
